To maintain your status of being a Modern MetroNeck today, you must have a mancave. You know that space that is all your own where girls dare not tread. That space where you are most comfortable and you can unwind and relax. That spot where you can watch the game on the big screen without interruption and sip on a frosty, cold beverage without feeling guilty. The Modern MetroNeck must have a space like this to call his own whether it be large or small. What are the best man cave ideas on a budget? What is the best couch for a man cave? What is the best flooring for a man cave? We have man cave ideas. We are MetroNecks. It doesn’t take too much to set you up a spot. This is the ultimate guide to setting up your man cave. We will help you figure out just what needs to be added to your space to make this a true Modern MetroNeck Mancave.
You need a space that you can designate as “The mancave”. A spot that you mark as yours and yours alone. This designation lets your girl, kids, or mother-in-law know that this is YOUR space and not theirs. You can put whatever you want in this space and they dare not invade it with their stuff. After all, these are our man cave ideas.

VIZIO M-Series Quantum 55” Class (54.5” Diag.) 4K HDR Smart TV – M558-G1
Samsung Electronics 4K Smart LED TV (2018), 55″ (UN55NU6900FXZA)
This space can be a spare bedroom that is not often used or a bonus room that yall don’t usually go into. It can be a storage shed or a sunroom. Heck, it can be a storage closet if it’s large enough. You just need a space large enough for you to set up “base camp mancave”. Identify said space and then stake your claim.

Bose Acoustimass 10 Series V Home Theater Speaker System, Black – 720962-1100
VIZIO SB2920-C6 29-Inch 2.0 Channel Sound Bar
This is how the conversation will go; “Hey babe I was thinking that I might put a TV and a few things in that spare bedroom so I can hang out and watch a ballgame or two”. Then she says; “That sounds good Hon, we don’t use that room for anything anyway”. BOOM! Done. You got yourself a space. Now don’t just go in and blurt out that you are setting up a MANCAVE. That will come later once you have put some stuff in there and taken ownership of said space. We will cover how to break that news later. Right now we are focused on our man cave ideas.
The first item that any mancave needs HAS to be a big-screen television. This is for pure, unadulterated entertainment. This is for sports, movies, video games and well that’s it. What else is there? This is NOT for watching the Hallmark channel or “chick flicks”. This is Not for Nickelodeon or Saturday morning cartoons (although they do take me back to my childhood). This is your space and you should be able to watch whatever you desire to watch (but mostly sports and movies).

The big screen will be the main focal point of your space. Along with the big screen you need to have great sound. You know the kind of sound that can rattle the walls and cause your girl to come to tell you she can’t hear herself think. That great sound is best achieved with a surround sound system or a modern-day soundbar. There are some really good ones out there, and they don’t have to be large and powerful (although the more power the better). Go for quality oversize and the more speakers the better. You want to be able to FEEL when that linebacker sacks the quarterback or that car bomb goes off (Boom). Also, you can add that gaming system of your choice. That X Box, Play station, or old school Sega looks incredible on the big screen.
The next item you will need in your mancave is a comfortable seat for you to position directly in front of the focal point (TV). The beauty of this is it can be a nice leather reclining chair, or a vintage couch that is both comfortable and MetroNeck chic. It can be a pleather club chair or a rocking recliner chair. You just need a comfortable seat that is in good enough shape that you can sit for hours and enjoy the sights and sounds of the AFC Championship Game or Diehard with a vengeance.

Xbox One S 1TB Console – Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Bundle
PlayStation 4 Slim 1TB Console – Fortnite Bundle
Position said chair directly in front of the TV and far enough back that you have a good view of everything. Speakers for any surround sound system or a soundbar will need to be positioned to optimize sound for you and you only. That spot in your chair will be command central.

Once you have the mancave setup you are going to want to invite some buddies at a later date to enjoy the mancave with you. After all, what is a great man cave if you can’t share it? They too will need comfortable seats to enjoy the entertainment at hand. A good couch or another recliner or two will work well here. It will not be in the optimal spot like your chair, but will still be in position for a great view.
The next item you will need in setting up your man cave is a mini-refrigerator to store your frosty, cold beverages. (And the wife’s juice boxes). This is very important for the independence that is the man cave. You can’t just have to walk downstairs and miss game action to get something to drink from the big fridge. No. You want to have something cool to drink within a few steps. (It’s a convenience thing).

Magic Chef MCWC28B Black 28-Bottle Single-Zone Wine Cooler, 18.1 x 29.1 x 20.5 inches
EdgeStar KC2000 Full Size Kegerator and Keg Beer Cooler
There is something so satisfying having frosty, cool beverages in your space at your command. These little refrigerators are very popular these days and come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. There are the dorm room units, the hotel size mini bar, or the wine fridge style (my personal favorite).
These are pretty inexpensive new, and you can even find them used if need be. Get yourself one of these mini-fridges and fill er up with beer, wine coolers, moonshine, hard ciders, or whatever your drink of choice. Your girl will give you input on this later. (Believe me) What will also help with her acceptance of the mancave is stock your new mini fridge with some of her favorites as well. (See reference to juice boxes above). Boom! You are in there. As an addendum to the above need for a mini-fridge, you can also put in a bar with a beer keg tap or a kegerator. These items are also really nice additions to the mancave although more advanced. They are more involved and might need to be eased in later once the mancave has been established for a while. You can’t just drop “babe I’m putting a TV in that spare room” and then drop surround sound and kegerator on her all at once. Those actions will get you admonished or worse. Nope just ease into things first. Then you have established things you can go full bore into operation mancave setup.
The next items you will need for your new mancave will be some personal style items that mean something to you and can adorn the walls of your palace. You can put up old high school football or basketball jerseys, trophies, plaques and awards from your past.
If you are a hunter, then this is a great place to hang that trophy deer, bear rug, or duck that you bagged. Exotic animals are great for man cave ideas. If you didn’t bag one then you can buy one if need be. Memorabilia from your favorite college or pro team is a must.

Signed pictures from celebrities and things like that work well. Personal family heirlooms are great to add to your man cave. Your granddad’s old shotgun, hunting vest, or tacklebox.
Anything that means something to you, will work. The best man cave is the one you put together. There are a million things that will be great additions to personalize the space. Some artwork is a nice touch that you can add. Vintage items always bring a nice feel to a man cave. Old projectors, electronics, or tools are extremely cool in a mancave. Movie posters or props. Add a pool table or an old school arcade game if you have the room. Whatever you can find that you want to add to the theme you are building is a nice addition. That is the beauty and fun of putting together YOUR man cave. You can customize it to your heart’s desire. It is like a blank canvas so to speak just waiting to be painted.

Setting up your man cave is a process that may take some time. It could take years and may be an ongoing process. Take your own sweet time. Stockpile those man cave ideas. Rome was not built in a day. You may find a piece that you have been looking for years to add. You can add to it as you go. I know I am constantly looking for things that might be cool to add. You may even build furniture or shelving to go in there. The possibilities are endless when it comes to a mancave. Whether it is a pool table, foosball table, Ms. Pacman arcade game, or X Box, they are all fair game when it comes to man caves. Finding the right pieces is what makes it fun. The awesome thing is you can enjoy the mancave the whole time you are searching. You never can quite get it complete, but you will know when it becomes the true Modern MetroNeck mancave. (Or you run out of space which is when it’s time to expand).
