I can’t tell you how many times I wish I had more hair than I do. But with great amounts of hair comes great responsibility. Unfortunately, I am more on the balder side of 40. Therefore, I don’t report as much shag as I once did. That pretend mullet I rocked back in the ’80s is long, long gone. I do however keep what hair I have “high and tight” (some would say more high than tight). As a Modern MetroNeck it is very important to keep whatever hair you have groomed and under control. Things can get out of hand if attention is not paid to your hair regularly. Grooming for men and trimming beard is very important. Some questions to ask. What is the best razor for shaving my head? How much shaving cream to use. Will shaving my head help with hair loss? This Modern MetroNeck Guide to “Keeping that man hair squared away” will give you some tips on how to maintain the standards of the mane.
Whatever the level of hair you rock these days, you must pay a certain amount of attention to it. This is a regular maintenance thing. Keeping that man hair squared away and trimming beard is of the utmost importance. Just like mowing that lawn, it looks better with upkeep. Check out these picks from the Modern MetroNeck on Amazon:

You know, having it cut or cutting it yourself every so often as not to let things get out of hand. It all depends on the style you are putting out there as a MetroNeck in today’s world. Whether you are bald like me, or you have brought back that afro, you should do that regular thing that keeps it all in line. You know that fortune follows the well-groomed. Hair (or lack there-of) is one of the first things people notice.
Bald men don’t usually have as much to keep up with. Keeping that man hair squared away is still important for us. We concentrate more on trimming beard. We do however have to shave the noggin or use those clippers to keep it from looking like a “wrap around” or a football helmet. I use the same razor for my face as I do for my head. When I start getting that shadow above the ears, I know that it’s time to hit it again. I believe that the freshly shaven head is a great turn-on for women. (At least that is what I tell myself – Hey you have to hold onto what you can!). There are some special razors out there that are specifically for your head. Shaving the head is an art. I have tried them and they work fine. Check out these picks from the Modern MetroNeck on Amazon:

It all depends on what you are comfortable with and what works for you. The main things are comfort, safety (don’t cut your ear off), and the desired look you are going for. Believe me, your girl appreciates whatever you do to look good for her. Be sure to use a good shaving cream or gel that you like to lubricate when shaving and trimming beard. Then use a good aftershave lotion that helps with any burn and conditions the skin. You need a good kit and there are some really good shaving kits for men out there.
Now my brothers that are a little more blessed in the follicle department, have more work to do to maintain. I can only dream about those long flowing locks bristling in the wind, that you can part down the middle or on the side. I just have to concentrate on trimming beard. Some put it in the ever socially acceptable “man bun” (I may sport one of these for Halloween if I can figure out some Velcro or Gorilla Glue or something). That “Jackie Moon” halfro (my word) is also a particularly stunning look these days. Guys your girl will tell you that you have to have the dead-ends clipped every so often to keep it looking good. Listen to them. It takes some effort to keeping that man hair squared away. These are facts they are spouting because they know. Check out these picks from the Modern MetroNeck on Amazon:
Use some good shampoo, or a body wash and shampoo hybrid that you like. Maybe even some of your girl’s conditioner. There is some good stuff out there on the market these days for men. They are out there, trust me as I often peruse those isles thinking about what could have been. The hair product, pomades, gels, mousse’s, grease out there is amazing and smells like apple pie! (What? I’m hungry). The longer the hair, the more you need to worry about keeping the tangles out (or witches as my granny used to tell my sister). Keep it picked, combed or brushed, to maintain “good hair” (every day is a good hair day for me as I don’t have any). You want your hair to smell good as it is one of those extremely important “stink zones” we talk about.
My brothers that are somewhere in between are not to be left out. We are still in need of keeping that man hair squared away. Whatever the level of hair on your head, you have some work to do. Check out these picks from the Modern MetroNeck on Amazon:

Keep that crew cut in good standing. The barber can maintain those lines and keep em sharp. They can even put the designs on the sides or back if you like. (I believe it’s coming back in style). Nothing looks better to me than a fresh “fade” as they call it. There are some extremely talented barbers out there. Go visit them. They are professionals. They will not let you down I promise. I won’t even have to worry about how to shave my head with clippers, The lucky guys who have longer hair on top, and then the shorter on the sides are the ones that too often envy. This is the look I would go for if I was so blessed. Those guys have the cool “James Bond” look that is messy when you take off the motorcycle helmet but perfectly coifed in a black tuxedo dancing the tango with the hot girl too. They have the best of both worlds. The longish flowing locks on top, but the fresh fade on the sides and back. It is a classic look and must still be maintained with some of these bomb men’s haircare products. You can still use a hair drier but can also maintain that wet look as it air dries. (I sometimes pick up the wife’s hairdryer just to see what it feels like on my baldness – amazing).
Whatever your level of locks, the maintenance of the mane is ever so important to a good Modern MetroNeck. Keeping that man hair squared away and trimming beard is very important. We have certain standards that we have to keep as not to looks shaggy or unkempt. Just like maintaining your car, you must do those little things that will tell the world you care about what you are driving. Just like cars, there are many different styles that men will work when it comes to our hair. Doing what we can to keep it squared away is a must. It helps keep the whole package together. Even if you wear that ball cap 360 days out of the year, you will have the occasion to take it off at some point. Make sure you have things straight to make that favorable impression. Remember success starts at the top so to speak.
